Brussels has an endless ability to adapt to the tastes and requirements of its visitors. There is always something happening here and there are many different ways to experience Brussels and lots of brilliant surprises in store.
We just learned that the Dutch IUGB Liaison Officer Professor Jan van Haaften passed away early July, as a result of a tragic incident in Slovenia where he spent his holidays with his wife Thea. Dr Van Haaften, who was best known for his research on Ungulates, on seals and on Wolf biology (a species which he studied in Portugal and Slovenia), was involved with IUGB since the early beginning and participated in virtually all its Congresses. Unfortunately he was unable to attend the 2011 Barcelona Congress but he was very much looking forward to come to next year’s Congress in Brussels, also because that would have been much closer to his home.
